Book review: To Cast a Cliche by Aubrey Wynne

Goodreads ⭐ Amazon ⭐

Evil Queen Lucinda casts a spell across the realm after being offended by an unflattering article about her and her late husband.  Throwing the royal poet in jail, Lucinda dooms the realm to living out one cliche after another until her stepson, the new king, returns to save his people.

To Cast a Cliche is an extremely short (15 page) story that’s available as an Amazon freebie.  It’s not groundbreaking or earth-shattering, but it’s cute and quick and it’s filled with a few laughs.  I don’t seem to have loved it quite as much as its average reader, but it was definitely well-written and original.

Final rating: ★★★☆☆
