I don’t know how to review this book without spoilers, so here is my spoiler-free review: I loved it. I loved it so much that I couldn’t put it down.

Alright, let’s talk about RICHARD CAMPBELL GANSEY III and his drunken Robert E. Lee accent. Or, more accurately, his dazzling Ganseyness and his nice mouth and nice eyes when he laughs. I’m in my twenties and Gansey is a fictional character but I’m pretty sure I’m in love with him. Oops. Sometimes he’s the dad of the group (“You don’t need to use that tone”) and other times he’s such a teenage boy who’s just trying to do right by his friends (“He wanted to tell Blue he liked her but that was Adam’s job”).

Now let’s talk about Adam Parrish. Or, more accurately, how much I want to adopt this tortured fictional teenager and give him a safe and happy home. I could cry just thinking about Adam’s life and how worthless he thinks he is. I love him so much and I just want him to find happiness. I hope that he’ll finally feel like he belongs soon.

And Ronan Lynch. Poor, poor Ronan. He’s capable of such great things but his life has been a nightmare recently. I’m glad that Ronan has good friends and I hope that he’ll get his life straightened out soon. I hope that he’s not going to come to rely on the pills from Kavinsky and that he can kind of calm down with the whole “stealing things from dreams” thing. I loved that we got to know Ronan so much more in this book.

And Noah. Oh my god, Noah. “You can kiss me. It won’t kill me.” NOAH. It was bad enough in the last book when we found out that Noah was actually dead. Now Noah is such a good guy and he’s trying so hard and he’s disappearing sometimes and it completely shattered my heart. “I’d ask you out if I was still alive.” “I’d say okay.” 😭

OH HELP, SHE THOUGHT. HELP. HELP. HELP. Same, Blue.

If you look at my notes while I was reading this book you’ll see a lot of 💔 emojis and 💕 emojis and also a bunch of “I LOVE THEM SO MUUUUCH.” This book somehow both broke my heart and made me so happy. I love this story and this world and I can’t wait to see how everything is going to develop in the next two books.
