It’s time for another reading challenge update, this time for the Monthly Motif challenge! In May, the theme was book-to-screen, so we were instructed to read a book that’s been made into either a movie or tv show. I kind of anticipated struggling with this one because the kinds of books I usually read aren’t really made into movies or tv shows, but I was able to find a book on my shelf for my #killingthetbr challenge that also worked for this theme. Two birds, one stone and all that.
Books read:
- The Girl in the Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz (anticipated movie release in November 2018)
Books not read:
- Literally anything else.
Next month’s theme is Crack the Case, so I’ll be reading “a mystery, true crime, or whodunnit novel.” I already have library holds on a few different mysteries:
- Faithful Place by Tana French
- Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
- People Like Us by Dana Mele
If you can recommend any other mysteries to me, please let me know!
Are you participating in the Monthly Motif reading challenge? If so, what did you read for this month’s prompt? Do you have any favorite book-to-screen adaptations?
I loved the Girl with the dragon tattoo.. I am yet to read the spider web 😍👌

I also loved The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! You can definitely tell that The Girl in the Spider’s Web is by a different author but I hope you like it! 🙂

I’m so happy to hear that! I’ve had it on hold forever and it should finally be coming in soon. 🙂

I had great fun with Truly Devious.I’m a sucker for mystery books with maps. Anything by Tana French is excellent and if you do audio the readers are quite good.

You’re the second person who’s said that about Tana French, so I’m getting even more excited!
I’m also happy to hear that you liked Truly Devious. I love Maureen Johnson and I can’t wait to read this one! 🙂

You could also try Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz. It’s kind of an experiment with the meta-fiction style.

I found your review of The Girl in the Spider’s Web very helpful, as I’ve read the other books in the series but was debating whether to try one written by a different author. Thank you for the review 🙂
For next month I can highly recommend The Dry by Jane Harper – it’s a whodunnit novel that’s unique and completely unpredictable!
