I was nominated for the Out of This World Blogger Award by Maddie @ Munch Reviews! The award was created by Kaleena @ Reader Voracious Blog.

Thanks so much to Maddie for the nomination! I love reading her reviews and other bookish posts, so definitely check out her blog! 💙

QUESTIONS:

What (or who) inspires you and why?
As a reader, I think the answer to who inspires me would have to be writers! I can crank out a few sentences if I need to, but to pull a whole book out of your head and have it make sense? Amazing. I don’t know how you guys do it.

What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Definitely connecting with other people from all over the world! I love the book blogging community and after a long, stressful day at work (or even during a long, stressful day at work) it’s so nice to see all of the likes and comments and all of the reviews and discussions floating around.

I also love it when people reach out to me outside of the blog! Add me on Goodreads, shoot me an email, whatever. I’d be happy to talk to you!

If you could be any character in fiction, whom would you be and why?
I don’t know that I’ve ever really thought about this before! I’m going to say to scroll down a bit and look at the ME IN BOOK CHARACTERS tag for this answer!

If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with the time?
I would be the most relaxed person on the planet. I’d probably actually sleep for once in my life, first of all. Within the first week or so, I’d have my house all cleaned and organized and ready for visitors. I’d love to have a bunch of dinner parties — it’s something I’ve wanted to do since I moved into this house but have never gotten around to. I love to cook and I hardly ever get to see my friends, so it’s a win-win! I’d also like to spend more time in NYC outside of the Prospect Heights/Park Slope neighborhoods of Brooklyn, which is where I am 97% of the time that I’m up there. Once I got all of that out of my system, I’d probably do some actual traveling. I don’t love flying, but I do love driving, so I’d probably drive all over the country.

I would obviously also do a lot of reading. I find that I can marathon books like crazy if I don’t have to worry about anything else. I had a couple weeks off in December last year and I read at least a book a day in addition to getting all of my holiday stuff done.

What is one piece of advice that you would give a new blogger?
Just have fun with it! You don’t need to do what everyone else is doing. You can talk about whatever you want to talk about, in whatever format best suits you, whenever you want to do it. You also don’t have to keep doing the same thing! If coming up with a particular type of post or sticking to a certain schedule is stressing you out, stop doing it! It’s your blog and, first and foremost, it should make you happy.

Optional: Freebie question – share something with us!
I feel like I kind of overshare here, but what’s one more thing? Let’s see… How about a work secret? Our waiting room radio usually plays classic, inoffensive music like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. It’s fine, the patients love it, whatever. But you can only listen to Fly Me to the Moon so many times in one day before you want to pull your hair out. So, if there are no patients and our boss isn’t in, my friend and I almost always change the radio to 90s pop and spend the day singing along and dancing in our chairs to Third Eye Blind, Sugar Ray, and Matchbox Twenty. And if the Backstreet Boys come on? My god, you should see us.

I was tagged by Sahi @ My World of Books to do the Me in Book Characters tag! Thanks so much for tagging me, Sahi! I had to think long and hard about my choices, but this was a lot of fun!

Rules:

  • Thank the creators of the tag – Ash and Lo @Windowsill Books
  • Thank whoever tagged you.
  • List 5 book characters who you relate to most and explain why.
  • Tag some of your friends!

My characters:

Character #1: Belle from In Bed With The Beast by Tara Sivec
Well, first of all, I clearly really like books. But also she falls in love with a guy who waits for her every night in a library! And I feel like sharing more reasons why I relate to her would get into spoiler territory and this book just came out, but Belle is basically the best and I want to be her best friend.

Character #2: Jane Cobalt from Damaged Like Us by Krista & Becca Ritchie
Jane is such a great character and I can’t wait until we get her book, but the reason I relate to her most is that she’s super into cats! I love cats so much. Here are some pictures of my cats!

top left: Aubrey, bottom right: Jubilee (RIP)

Character #3: Emily Hughes from Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
The thing about Emily is that she has to figure out what to do with herself after her larger-than-life BFF disappears. I’ve never had a friend disappear quite as dramatically as Sloane, but this is a situation I’ve found myself in more than once.

Character #4: Holland Bakker from Roomies by Christina Lauren
I too fall a little bit in love with every swoony musician that I meet! (I don’t know if I’d go so far as to propose marriage, though.)

Character #5: Bailey Rydell from Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett
Bailey is probably who I relate to most on this list for two reasons. First, Bailey is a dodger. She’ll go to any extreme to avoid an awkward confrontation, and oh my god, same. Second, we both live in our online bubbles where we talk to the same few people all the time about our favorite topics (hers is movies, but still).

Tagging:

Here’s the usual post-tag message: If you’d rather not do a tag, no hard feelings!

Wonderful post as always! I especially love your advice to new bloggers and your work secret! I would go out of my mind too if I had to listen to it all the time too.

I need to add you on goodreads! I’m so bad at doing that.

Haha I second your answer about what if I had all the time and money in the world; sleeping, parties, cleaning, traveling, reading marathons…that’s literally heaven. 😛 Also, I know I said this before, but your cats are freaking adorable! ❤

    Thanks for the tag!
P.S. I think Third Eye Blind is actually going to be in Chattanooga this week at this music festival, and my work actually offered us free passes to go to it. So, I’m debating if I should go or not, haha.

Thank you so much for the nomination!! I would totally change the radio channel too! Haha. When I worked at Kohl’s, years ago, the same songs would play over and over. I hated it so much! haha.
