I was so happy to be nominated by Alyssa Grace and The Bookcover Girls for the Sunshine Blogger Award! Please go check out their blogs when you get a chance!

WHAT IS THE SUNSHINE BLOGGER AWARD?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive, and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

THE RULES

  1. Thank the person/persons that nominated you and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions your nominator has given you.
  3. Nominate 11 other people and give them 11 new questions to answer.
  4. List the rules and display the award.

11 QUESTIONS FROM ALYSSA GRACE:

1. Chocolate or Coffee?
Not to be dramatic or anything, but I think I might actually die without coffee. I have to wake up really early for work and I’m basically dead to the world until I’ve had a couple cups.

2. What is your favourite childhood book series?
Probably The Song of the Lioness quartet by Tamora Pierce. I read this series so many times when I was younger!

3. What is your favourite part about blogging?
I feel like I keep saying this, but I love connecting with other book lovers! I love talking about books, so please keep the comments and the tags and the emails and the friend requests coming!

4. If you could live in one fictional world, which would it be?
Maybe Red London from V.E. Schwab’s Shades of Magic series? The other Londons are pretty terrifying, but Red London is just so magical and maybe I could meet Holland and Rhy and Alucard and we could all live happily ever after in a big friend group.

5. Which fictional character would you want as your crime-fighting sidekick?
Adrian/Sketch from Renegades! I mean, come on. His superpower is “artwork genesis,” which basically just means that anything he draws can come to life. How useful would that be for fighting crime?!

6. What is your favourite kind of blog post to write?
I try not to write too many really negative reviews, but those are my favorite since I get so into it when I’m writing them. I also love doing tags so please keep tagging me!

7. If you have one, what’s your favourite comfort food?
I love every comfort food that exists, but I have a soft spot for mac and cheese. I love making homemade mac and cheese and the last time I visited my mom back in Wisconsin, she took me to this mac and cheese restaurant that was amazing. I wish we had something like it here in NJ. It was so good!

8. If there’s one unfinished book/TV/any other medium series that you could have finished right now, which would it be?
Do you remember the ABC show Selfie from a couple years ago? I loved that show so much! It starred Karen Gillan (I love her) as this woman who’s obsessed with social media and likes and hashtags and followers who doesn’t know how to connect with people offline and John Cho (I love him) as the guy who helps her learn how to live a real life. It was canceled in the middle of the season and Hulu aired the remaining episodes, but I wish we would’ve gotten some more closure. I loved where they were going with it!

9. You can travel back in time to observe one moment, but only as a passive observer–you cannot change anything. When would you go?
This is such a hard question and I really have no idea! I think I might go for the moon landing since it seems like that would be really cool to witness!

10. Fictional character you love to hate?
Well, I just finished The Foxhole Court and hated literally every character except for Neil and maybe the coach? I didn’t really LOVE to hate them though, I really just HATE-HATED them. It’s been awhile since I read a (published) book with a character that I really loved to hate.

11. Other than your own, what country would you most like to live in?
Costa Rica! The weather, the food, the relaxed atmosphere… I would move to Costa Rica in an instant.

11 QUESTIONS FROM THE BOOKCOVER GIRLS:

1. What’s your favorite blog post you’ve ever written?
I really like my book rants, like Distrust, All the Bright Places, and Torn Hearts. I don’t like being negative but those posts are the most fun ones to write!

2. What is your favorite blog post (not your own) that you’ve ever read?
That I’ve ever read in my whole 28 years of life? Wow, that’s quite a question!!! I might cheat just a little bit here and say that I love discussion posts and I love book recommendation posts! I also love reading a good book rant, especially if you’re really sarcastic.

3. If you could meet one author,  dead or alive, who would it be?
I said in a different tag that I would love to interview Jenn Bennett (preferably while baking a pie) but for just meeting someone, probably Tamora Pierce! She was such a huge part of my childhood and she really contributed to my love of reading.

4. What’s your dream job?
Anything in publishing! I’m not even picky!

5. What is the worst book you’ve read this year?
Hands down, Distrust.

6. What’s your favorite book quote?
It’s been like five years, but this one from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is still the first to come to mind:

“In new situations, all the trickiest rules are the ones nobody bothers to explain to you. (And the ones you can’t Google.)”

7. Who is your favorite supervillain?
Way back in the day of 2008 or so, I used to go to every superhero movie with my best friend. We had an agreement that we could see the movies with anybody we wanted, but we also had to go together. Especially the Spiderman movies! We were obsessed with those. But ever since I moved 1000 miles away from her, I haven’t really been that into superhero movies. I watch them sometimes, but it’s not the same and I don’t enjoy them as much. So my favorite supervillain is a really hard question! I guess I’d have to go with either the Joker (Heath Ledger’s version) or Loki.

8. If you could bring any fictional object (weapon, clothing, food etc.) into the real world, what would it be?
I think an alethiometer would be pretty useful if I could figure out how to work it.

9. What TV show have you binge-watched lately?
I don’t really ever binge-watch anything but I have been flying through season 4 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

10. If you were writing a novel, what would it be about?
There’s like a 99.9% likelihood that it would be a friends-to-lovers romance.

11. Your bookshelf is on fire (God forbid!) which one book do you save from the flames? Why that one?
Probably my signed copy of Starry Eyes (because how am I going to get another one of those), but honestly, if something in my house was on fire, I would be way more concerned about getting myself and my cat out alive.

I tag: Hannah | Catherine | Daniel | Siobhan | Gerry | Jess & Teagan | Lori | Justina

11 QUESTIONS FROM ME:

(I’m recycling my favorite questions from previous tags, so these might look pretty familiar!)

  1. What’s your perfect “me” time?
  2. Who’s your most-read author?
  3. What book are you always thinking about even though you read it a long time ago?
  4. What was the happiest day of your life?
  5. If you could spend the day with any fictional character, who would it be and what would you do?
  6. If there’s one unfinished book/TV/any other medium series that you could have finished right now, which would it be?
  7. You’re given the option of knowing the exact date and time of your death or staying blissfully unaware. Which do you pick?
  8. If you were told you could be an expert in any one thing instantly, what would you pick?
  9. What’s the most recent book that you were unable to (or struggled to) finish?
  10. If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with the time?

I was tagged by Bibi to do the Seven Deadly Sins tag! Thanks for tagging me, Bibi! This one already sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Now, let’s see what these prompts are…

GREED deadly-catsins-marija-tiurina-3

Greed: What is the most expensive book that you own? What is the least expensive book that you own?
I would guess that The Complete Works of William Shakespeare is probably the most expensive book on my shelf. (Aside from some college textbooks I still have, yikes.) The least expensive book… I mean, I have a lot of Kindle freebies. Like a lot. The cheapest physical copy of a book is probably Skipped Parts by Tim Sandlin, which I think I got for like 45¢.

GLUTTONY deadly-catsins-marija-tiurina-2

Gluttony: What book or books have you shamelessly devoured many times?
I’d guess that over the last two decades of my life, I’ve probably re-read Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret at least ten times. (Mostly when I was in middle school, but still.) I also re-read Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda once but that might not count since I only did it for a reading challenge. I have too many books I want to read to focus on re-reading old favorites.

SLOTH deadly-catsins-marija-tiurina-6.jpg

Sloth: What book or book series have you neglected out of sheer laziness?
I don’t know if I’d call it sheer laziness, but I haven’t started Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive series because the books are so big!

PRIDE deadly-catsins-marija-tiurina-5.jpg

Pride: What book or books do you bring up when you want to sound like an intellectual reader?
I don’t really care about being seen as an “intellectual reader,” but I guess I’d talk about whatever my latest non-fiction book was if I wanted to sound like I read more than romance.

LUST deadly-catsins-marija-tiurina-4

Lust: What attributes do you find most attractive in your characters?
I love it when they’re funny and snarky and when they’re good at banter.

ENVY deadly-catsins-marija-tiurina-1

Envy: What books would you most like to receive as a gift?
If someone could just send me an ARC of What If It’s Us, I would be the happiest person on the planet!

For published books, I’ve been wanting to read anything by Alice Oseman for a long time. Also, Sylvia Plath’s Ariel has been on my TBR for two years now. And I keep seeing great reviews of Picture Us in the Light by Kelly Loy Gilbert, so that one too.

WRATH deadly-catsins-marija-tiurina-7

Wrath: What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?
Probably Victoria Schwab? I love her books but they rip my heart out each time! Why does she create such amazing characters and then do such terrible things to them? Why does she make me care about people and then just kill them off? So mean, but I love her writing.

NOT A DEADLY SIN:

PAWESOMENESS deadly-catsins-marija-tiurina-8

Pawesomeness: What is the best book or books you’ve read so far this year?
Here are all my five-star ratings from Goodreads.

Do you love tags? Let me know! Are you constantly asking yourself why I keep bothering you? Let me know not to tag you! Maybe I didn’t tag you and you want to answer these questions? Go for it!

Hmm, it’s cool you love Tamora Pierce as I’ve been waiting to check out some of her books. Also, same here with Stormlight Archives! (totally need to get a move on them) And hahahaha okay I guess I know your thoughts on Foxhole Court now. 😂😂 Awesome tags!

I had a whole shelf of Tamora Pierce books back when I lived at home. I definitely recommend them and I think it would be fun to reread them as an adult and see if I still like them! I haven’t read any of her newer stuff yet but it’s on my (very long) tbr.

Those Stormlight Archive books are so intimidating but they also have such great reviews! Someday I’ll get to them. 😊

Haha yeah, I didn’t love it. I’m so disappointed too because I’ve only seen great reviews of it!!

Oooh Mac and Cheese, yes I am with you there! And also on the Heath Ledger’s Joker. I always remember leaving the cinema and me and my friend just turned to each other and went ‘wow’ because he was so good.

Thank you for the tag! I will get round to it I promise! 😛 Can I steal the sins one from you? IT also looks fun!

You would save your signed copy. I so would also, like how am I supposed to get another signed copy of Warcross?. If my house was on fire, I would so call the fire department, douse water on the flames and grab everyone out and things that are irreplaceable luckily that would never happened

    • Sara @ The Bibliophagist says:

I can’t believe I forgot to say that I’d call the fire department! Obviously that’s the correct first step in this situation. And I’m glad you agree about signed copies. I wouldn’t want to replace my whole collection of books, but most of them could easily be bought anywhere. Not so easy for the signed ones, though.
