How is it possible that another month has come and gone? I swear that this year is going by faster than ever. I didn’t have as many highly-rated books in June as I had in May — I had nine four- or five-star ratings last month as opposed to twelve in May — but I did read some really, really great books. My top three books are below, but if you want to see everything I read in June, check out my June Page Count.
Best YA | Best |
Best Non-Fiction |
---|---|---|
Emergency Contact Mary H.K. Choi |
Little Fires Everywhere Celeste Ng |
We Were Eight Years in Power Ta-Nehisi Coates |
What were your favorites from June?
Have you read any of these books? What did you think?
Let me know in the comments!
Little Fires Everywhere was excellent! I read it about a year ago and still think about those characters. 😊

Bring me their hearts! And I know it’s July now but I just read Unearthly by Laura Thalassa and it wasn’t perfect but I think the series is going to be amazing!

I finished Emergency Contact this month too! I really liked Penny and Sam and their banter. I’ve been wanting to read Little Fires Everywhere for a while and I’m glad to hear how much you enjoyed it. Lovely post 🙂

I’m so happy that you liked Emergency Contact! Honestly, I wish I was as good at text banter as Penny and Sam.
And Little Fires Everywhere was so good! I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a good character-driven book.

Me too! I’m probably not nearly as good of a conversationalist as either of them haha.
I’m definitely going to try to read Little Fires Everywhere soon! Thanks for the recommendation 🙂

I really bought a Kindle copy of Emergency Contact, and it makes me SO happy to know that you loved it!!! Hopefully, I’ll enjoy the book just as much, too!
And have a wonderful reading month ahead of you this July! (So many exclamation points in this comment, I know. HAHA.)

I’ve not heard/ read anything negative about Little Fires Everywhere and I keep meaning to check it out. It’s strange as I know its popular but I know absolutely nothing about it!

I didn’t know anything about it either when I started reading! It was so good, though, and I definitely recommend it!

I really want to read Emergency Contact and Little Fires Everywhere! I would’ve never learned about them if I hadn’t thrown myself so fully back into blogging this summer :,)
June was not a very memorable month for me as I decided to reread some childhood classics, but I did love The Arm of the Starfish. It made me want to read more contemporary novels with travel and international conspiracies!

Emergency Contact was so cute and Little Fires Everywhere was just really well-written and amazing. I hope you like both of them!
I so rarely re-read books, but I’ve been tempted recently to dive back into my childhood favorites. Also, if you find any good contemporaries with travel and international conspiracies, please let me know! That sounds like the kind of book that I’d love!
