11 questions from Thrice Read:

What is the best part about book blogging?
The book blogging community! I’ve made some really great friends that I would never have met if not for this website. Everyone is so nice and so supportive and so friendly and this whole community makes me so happy. 💕

What is the worst part about book blogging?
Currently? It’s so time-consuming! I want to read all of the books but also all of the blog posts and all of the reviews and like and comment on everything and it’s a lot. And that’s just here on WordPress! There’s also Goodreads and Twitter and keeping up with new releases and ARCs going up on Netgalley and Edelweiss! Plus I have a full-time job and sometimes I need to pretend to have a social life??

What is your most anticipated book of the year?
WHAT IF IT’S US. I will probably die when I finally get it in my hands.

Name a book you would recommend no matter the reader.
This is such a hard question! I don’t even know! Maybe something like Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates? I feel like almost everybody could get something out of reading it.

What book has made you the saddest?
Probably Me Before You? I don’t know. That’s the only book that I remember being a true mess after finishing.

About how many books are on your TBR at the moment?
In my mind, it’s neverending. On Goodreads, it’s 140 and my actual owned TBR is 123. There’s not a lot of overlap between the two since I mostly use GR for keeping track of books that I want to buy or check out from the library.

Are you on a book buying ban? If so, when will you start buying again?
I’m always on a book buying ban! I try so hard not to buy books because, see above, I literally own 123 books that I haven’t read. But then I’ll see something I want to read and next thing you know, I’m standing in line at the bookstore with my arms full of books. It’s a real problem.

What is your favorite genre?
I’m really into YA contemporaries right now!

If you could only have one book for the rest of your life, which would it be?
I can’t even possibly answer this question.

Thoughts on Harry Potter?
I loved Harry Potter when I was younger. I read all the books as they came out and then I re-read them (and re-read them and re-read them and re-read them…). I talked about them with my friends. I’ve seen all the movies and I had all the soundtracks. I even learned how to play all of the songs! I was 17 years old when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out and I used my brand new drivers license to take all of my friends to the midnight release party. I have zero desire to re-read these books as an adult. They’re magical and wonderful and I would love to share them with my nieces and nephew and any of my hypothetical future children, but that part of my reading life is done.

If you could kill a character from a book, who would it be?
Oh jeez. The first name that came to mind was Astrid Dane from V.E. Schwab’s Shades of Magic series.

11 questions from me:

  1. What’s the best book you’ve read so far this year?
  2. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
  3. Do you use your local library?
  4. What’s your favorite breakfast food?
  5. Do you have any pets? Feel free to share photos if you do. ❤
  6. Do you plan out what you’re going to read next or are you a mood reader?
  7. Do you prefer to buy books at physical bookstores or online?
  8. I’m always looking for new people to follow, so what are some of your favorite book blogs?
  9. What’s your favorite tv show right now?

Thank you so much for nominating me 🙂 I agree with the HP reading. I actually picked up the books about 2-3 years ago and while I did read all 7 books, the magic was gone. The books was still great, but there’s things you notice as an adult that I didn’t back then – things that shouldn’t be noticed. Like, how come they’re taught all these spells but can’t have alcohol etc. So you’re right, somethings are best left alone.

First time was hard enough Sara… you want me to think of 11 new questions and 11 more ppl to tag 😭😭😭😭
Just kidding… thank you though… Love your answers…
I think I’m not done with my HP obsession because I only started them after 6 books were out…
Blogging has definitely given me lots of new friends too… ppl who can totally understand my obsession for books.. I love it…

Sorry!! I know, this one is so hard and I can never figure out who to tag 😭

A lot of people I actually know in real life will be like “Oh, you spent your weekend reading? That’s sad.” Um… no it’s not. I’m glad I have blogging friends who understand!

Ikr… why does everyone think we don’t have a life coz we spent a weekend reading… I’m happy spending time with fictional characters and laugh and cry along with them 😊😊 And I’m so happy that we all bloggers understand that feeling…

Lol. You don’t need a social life when you have books! 🙂 ❤

When Deathly Hallows came out for me, I had just graduated college and was backpacking around Europe. My friend, Katrina, and I found a local bookstore in Sweden that was having a midnight release party (although it was really a 1am release party because Sweden is an hour a head of Great Britain & they wouldn't let them release the book before they did – lol). So we camped out on cobblestone streets for HOURS before hand, waiting in line. And then we when got the book we stayed up all night reading it. I remember calling my mother in the US and bragging that I had gotten the book like 8 hours before she did. 🙂 Anyway, the point of the story is that I think it is amazing that we can both recall what we were doing on the same exact night in July 2007 – because of books ❤

You’re so right!! Now, if only I could convince everyone in my life of that fact. 🙂

It’s definitely amazing that the release of that book made such an impact on us that we can remember it all these years later. 🙂 And it’s so funny that you called your mom to brag! I probably would’ve done the same thing.

Thank you for tagging me!! I’m the exact opposite with Harry Potter since I read it as an adult. I started on New Years Day and finished on April 1st so almost 3 months of reading them.

Personally, I might reread them once or twice but I won’t go back to them again and again. They were fun reads and I’m happy to say I’ve read them but not worth repeating over and over again.

I also would recommend Between the World and Me to everyone too. It was such an important read!

You’re welcome! And wow, it must be such a different experience to read them for the first time as an adult! And that whole three-month thing is another reason that I’m done with re-reading them. I loved them when I was younger, but I would much rather read new books at this point in my life.

I’m so glad you liked Between the World and Me! ❤

I totally agree for Me Before You, I cried a lot while reading it!
As for HP, I was only 12 when the last one came out in theatres and I was reading the whole series for the first time. I read them again last year, and tried to do the same this year, but… even if this series means a lot to me, I don’t think I will read them often anymore. The more you grow, the more you realise that there are other things in books than HP, and, even if it stays a part of your bookish life, you move on.

Congratulations on the nom!! 😊 Your shelf at home must be massive with that many books on it + the ones you’ve read, I’m jealous! And same, it’s so time consuming keeping up with blogging and just reading in general. I love it, I just wish I could dedicate my whole life to it with no other responsibilities 😩

      Thank you! 🙂

I have way more ebooks than I have physical books, but I do really need to come up with some better organization! I have one big built-in bookshelf in my living room and it’s a total disaster.

Can I just quit my job and read and blog full-time???

Thank you so much for the tag!! I have no idea how I’m going to come up with anything close to 11 people though, I am a baby blogger who knows nobody! (although I guess getting to know people is kind of the point)
I’m the exact same way about book buying bans, I’ll look at my TBR pile and decide not to buy anything until it’s severely shortened but then somewhere will have a sale and I’ll buy like 5 books. Or I’ll be having a bad day, and have a little online shopping spree to cheer myself up. Or I’ll have literally no excuse and just wander into a bookstore. It’s terrible.

I totally agree about HP! I just feel like I might not love the books as much now? Idk. I still appreciate it but I don’t know that I’ll ever re-read them.

I totally agree about blogging being so time consuming! I have stopped doing a meme every day. It’s helped. I currently have a couple book reviews and tags in my drafts though! Lol

To be completely honest, I don’t even know where my Harry Potter books are. I think (hope?) they’re at my mom’s house, but I’m really not sure!

I’m definitely still trying to figure out the balance between blogging and my real life. I’m glad you’re finding something that works for you. 🙂

Thank you for nominating me. 😗 I’m also always on a book buying ban, but I always break it. It’s just so hard to resist books when you’re already inside the bookstore. I swear, sometimes it feels like the only reason I’m working is to keep myself in books. Haha! 😀
