7 things about me:
- When you major in Linguistics, you have to take a certain number of foreign language credits. I picked Spanish because I knew it would be useful, and then I picked up Portuguese for the heck of it. The language that I really wanted to learn was Icelandic, though! It’s not like I know anybody from Iceland or ever plan to visit there or that I would probably ever use it in my daily life, but I love how it sounds and Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur is a song that always makes me happy.
- I’ve mentioned before how traveling really stresses me out, but I’m actually usually fine once I get there. (And I tend to prefer road trips over flying.) Right now I’m talking about going to Tennessee with two different friends and I’m hoping at least one of these plans will work out. ❤
- There are currently 28 unread books just in my line of sight, please send help.
- It’s been six years, but I still can’t make it through the bridge of All Too Well without crying.
- I am a very big planner and everything I post is scheduled! I usually have all my posts planned out at least a month in advance. I’m all scheduled through mid-September right now.
- I don’t watch a lot of television (another reason I have so much time to read) but there are a couple shows that I watch! I love Riverdale, Bob’s Burgers, and The Good Place. I also love all of the iterations of Masterchef, but my favorite is Masterchef Junior. 🙂
- My job is super, super stressful! Who would’ve ever thought that sitting in the corner and billing insurance companies all day would be stressful, but it is!! Probably because I often have to fill in everywhere else in the office, but it is what it is. Anyway. The thing that makes me the happiest when I’m in the middle of a stressful day at work is people talking to me about books, so please keep surprising me with comments and tags! ❤
My nominations:
(Only five today because that’s how I roll.)
Thanks for the tag! Ooh, Icelandic would definitely be a cool language to master. If nothing else, for the look on people’s face when you start randomly say things in a language, that almost no one speaks 😛

You’re welcome! And wouldn’t it be so cool? Nobody would be eavesdropping on your conversations, that’s for sure! 😊

And in all fairness, if anyone could understand it, they’d have earned listening in 🤣

That song is cool I had never heard Icelandic before! Also I admire that you study so many languages 🙂

I love that song so much! And thank you! The linguistics program was a lot of fun. 😊

I would so love to learn Icelandic! It was amazing to hear it when I was there last summer, and I am proud to say that I learned how to pronounce the name of the volcano, Eyafjallajokull while I was there!

It’s so cool that you went to Iceland! And I have no idea how to pronounce the name of that volcano, so good job! ❤

Thanks! The pronunciations are straightforward once you learn what each letter combination sounds like, but putting it all together is not easy.

Having dealt with the pure shittiness of insurance companies, I’m not surprised at all that your job is stressful!

Insurance companies are the worst! Sorry you’ve had to deal with them too!

They’re not all bad, tbh. But when they do bad things, they really mess up.

Thanks for the tag. I’ll do it if I can think that many facts about myself…

You’re welcome, and I know, it’s so hard to think of facts about yourself! Sometimes I think I’m not an interesting enough person for these things!

My favorite iteration of Masterchef is Masterchef Australia. Everyone always feels like a family by the end and it is probably the most wholesome reality show I’ve ever watched. What was the hardest language you’ve had to learn?

I’ve never watched Masterchef Australia, but now I want to!
Once you know Spanish, Portuguese is really easy to learn. So I guess I’d have to go with Spanish since it was the first foreign language I learned.

Holy crap, Icelandic is the number one language I want to learn too! I was also inspired by a lovely song called “Von” (it’s from an anime lol) and I knew immediately that I wanted to learn it. Weird coincidence! 😀
