When two soldiers from opposite sides of a never-ending galactic war fall in love, they risk everything to bring a fragile new life into a dangerous old universe.

From bestselling writer Brian K. Vaughan, Saga is the sweeping tale of one young family fighting to find their place in the worlds. Fantasy and science fiction are wed like never before in this sexy, subversive drama for adults.

Despite what you might think based on my recent graphic novel reviews, I really don’t read this kind of thing all that often. What happened is I discovered that hoopla has a really great selection of graphic novels and that sometimes, when life is crazy, you just need to escape into a weird world with great illustrations.

The first volume is pretty much an introduction to the world of Saga, which is… pretty crazy. Think of just about anything from a sci-fi book or movie, and it’s probably happening here. There are star-crossed lovers, there are ghosts, there’s a giant cat that doubles as a lie detector, there’s a spaceship and bounty hunters and people with TVs for heads and… I think you probably get the idea.

This was a lot of fun to read, and on top of that, it’s a great story and the art is amazing. I can’t wait to read the next two volumes and then cry because I have to wait until December 1 for the rest.

P.S. This wasn’t recommended to me in particular, but Leslie’s review is a big reason that I picked it up, so I definitely owe her some thanks for the entertainment I’ve gotten from this series!

Ahhh!!! I am SO glad you picked this up! I love this so much and I NEVER would have thought I would say that about a graphic novel! haha. I’m glad that my review influenced you. Just wait, each volume is just great! :):):)

I always see everyone raving about Saga, but I just never get around to it! I feel like I would probably love it, but I can’t ever seem to make graphic novels a top priority (even when I’m almost certain I’ll like them). I really need to start using hoopla…maybe that will get me to read it.
