Happy Top Ten Tuesday! This week’s theme is Top Ten Tuesday Turns Ten, and we could either redo a past topic or do one that we missed. Instead of doing either of those, I thought I would talk about my favorite Top Ten Tuesday themes over the years!
Fun fact: I went back to check and I have done almost 300 Top Ten Tuesday posts over the years. That’s crazy! The first one I ever did was on June 9, 2015, which was about my anticipated releases for the rest of that year. (Now, five years later, I’ve read five of them. Sounds about right.)
September 15, 2015: Freebie
(ten characters you didn’t click with)
In this post, we have some very early Bibliophagist sass. I was a pretty nice reviewer when I started out, but I did have some occasional snarky comments. Take, for example, my thoughts on the main character from A Mad, Wicked Folly:
Victoria Darling from A Mad, Wicked Folly: Oh, Vicky. You think you’re so special, but you’re so annoying. I get it, you’re an artist, and you’re so creative, and you just can’t be held back. But that doesn’t mean that you can use people, literally every person you meet, for your own purposes, completely disregarding their feelings. Come on, Vicky. You’re better than that.
Yikes.
February 12, 2016: Music-themed freebie
(Taylor Swift songs that would make great books)
Honestly, I feel like Taylor tells a whole story in every one of her songs, so pretty much any of them would make a good book. But in this post, I somehow narrowed it down to ten. Since she’s released two more albums since then, I could definitely have some fun making part two of this list.
February 14, 2017: Favorite romances
(broken up into favorite tropes)
This was back in the days when I spent countless hours making graphics for every single post and… I do not miss that. Those little hearts sure look cute, though! I am still a sucker for most of these tropes, but I got over the stepbrother one very quickly.
October 24, 2017: Unique book titles
Really, this post is mostly just a bunch of really long book titles, like Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, The Inevitable Collision of Birdie & Bash, and The Odds of Loving Grover Cleveland. It was really fun to go through the books I’ve read and pick out the most interesting titles!
November 14, 2017: Books I want my future children to read
This post could also be titled “well-written, issue-driven YA books” because that’s basically what it is. I had actually forgotten about a lot of these books and I’m glad I looked back to this post for the reminder! This post included books like A List of Cages, Cherry, and Made You Up.
January 9, 2018: Ten books I didn’t get to in 2017 that are at the top of 2018’s TBR
I don’t include this one because TBR posts are so fun to make (although they kind of are), but because this is the first one I’ve found (and probably the only one ever) where I’ve actually read every single book. I completed a TBR? What??
February 13, 2018: Ten songs I’d love to see as romance novels
Apparently I have a soft spot for this “songs as romance novels” thing, because I did it again here! This list isn’t exclusively Taylor Swift songs (it includes Steel Train, Something Corporate, The Wombats, and a few others), but she does make a couple appearances.
September 11, 2018: Hidden gems
I had a ton of fun finding books I’d read with less than 300 ratings on Goodreads. (Since this was almost two years ago, I hope that these books have a little more exposure by now.) Looking at this post reminded me about The Secrets of the Starbucks Lovers and I am very tempted to reread it.
August 14, 2018: Favorite book bloggers
This is one of my favorite blog post I’ve ever written. Just reading through it again made me smile. (Most of the people I put on this list are no longer blogging, but that’s okay.)
April 2, 2019: Things that make me pick up a book
I like topics that make me analyze my reading habits, so this one was really fun to do! This post also reminded me of some books that I’ve been wanting to read, and of some tropes that I love and haven’t read in a while.
