Tag: Audiobook Tag

I have a million tags I’ve actually been tagged in that I have yet to do, but I figured I’d do this really fun audiobook tag that I found on Sahi‘s blog instead! Audiobooks are most of my reading these days and I’m excited to talk about them!

HAVE YOU ALWAYS LISTENED TO AUDIOBOOKS OR WHEN DID YOU BEGIN?

I was a Spanish major when I was in college, and I had to read some really difficult books. I started listening to audiobooks so I could hear the books while I was walking to class in addition to sitting down and actually reading them. I also listened to a couple fiction audiobooks, and then got kind of sick of them and stopped. Over the year, I listened to the occasional audiobook while cleaning, but I didn’t get really into them until I started my current job, where I sat in a cubicle with a lot of activity around me all day. Now I’ve been at home for about five months, but I’m still listening to them while I work. (And sometimes while I cook, clean, and sew.)

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE AUDIOBOOK?

I’d have to go with Sadie!

WHAT IS MY LEAST FAVOURITE THING ABOUT AUDIOBOOKS?

A bad narrator can really take a good book and make it terrible. There have been a few audiobooks that I’ve had to put down because I just couldn’t handle the narrator.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE DIFFERENCE IN EXPERIENCE BETWEEN PHYSICALLY READING A BOOK AND LISTENING TO IT?

There isn’t really much of a difference to me, other than I can do other things while I listen to an audiobook and it’s pretty hard to multitask while physically reading.

HOW AND WHEN DO YOU LISTEN?

I mostly listen while I’m working and I mostly use Libby, although now that Netgalley has ALCs, I also use their Shelf app. (Honestly, it could use some work. It’s super frustrating.)

WHAT STYLE/GENRE DO YOU PREFER?

Almost anything except erotica. That’s one genre that I’d much prefer to physically read.

WHAT ARE SOME AUDIOBOOK/NARRATOR RECOMMENDATIONS?

In addition to Sadie, I’d recommend Catch and Kill by Ronan Farrow, Open Book by Jessica Simpson, and The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo. My favorite narrators are probably January LaVoy and Rebecca Soler.

I enjoyed that post, Sara. I have never listened to an audio book but I can imagine that the narrator would make all the difference. Sometimes my eyes get very tired reading so maybe I should give it a go!

ahh same! that’s my favorite audiobook too! That’s actually what got me started to really really listen to an audiobook, because before I knew of Sadie, I was not a fan. Probably because I got in the wrong hands of a monotonous reader.
