We met on a Tuesday.
Became best friends, then lovers, on a Tuesday.
And everything fell apart on a Tuesday…

Charlotte Taylor has three automatic strikes in my book: 1) She hates me. She also claims that I’m a “domineering jerk with a huge, overbearing ego.” (I do have something huge. It’s not my ego, though.) 2) She takes our mandatory tutoring sessions way too seriously. 3) She’s sexy as hell…And a virgin.

At least, those were her strikes before our study sessions started lasting longer than they were supposed to. Until one innocent kiss became a hundred dirty ones, and until she became the first woman I ever fell hard for.

Our future together after graduation was supposed to be set:
Professional football for me. Law school for her.

But she left me at the end of the semester with no explanation, and then she completely disappeared from my life.

Until tonight.

We met on a Tuesday.
Became everything, then nothing, on a Tuesday.
And now it’s seven years later, on a Tuesday…

About NOT SO NICE GUY (available August 9th)

“Oh my god. Who is that?”

I get asked this question a lot.

“Oh him?” I reply. “That’s just Ian.”

Just Ian is the biggest understatement of the century. Just the Mona Lisa. Just the Taj Mahal. Just Ian, with his boring ol’ washboard abs and dime-a-dozen dimpled smile.

Just Ian is…just my best friend.

We’re extremely close, stuck so deep inside a Jim-and-Pam-style friendzone everyone at work assumes we’re a couple—that is until one day, word spreads through the teacher’s lounge that he’s single. Fair game. Suddenly, it’s open season on Ian.

He should be reveling in all the newfound attention, but to our mutual surprise, the only attention he seems to want is mine.

He’s turning our formerly innocent nightly chats into X-rated phone calls. Our playful banter sports a new, dangerous edge.

I want to assume he’s playing a prank on me, just pushing my buttons like always—but when Ian lifts me onto the desk in my classroom and slides his hands up my skirt, he doesn’t leave a lot of room for confusion.

I’m a little scared of things going south, of losing my best friend because I can’t keep my hands to myself. So, I’m just going to back away and not return this earth-shattering kiss—oh who am I kidding?!

Goodbye Ian, ol’ buddy, ol’ pal!

Helloooo mister not so nice guy.

Blog tour (+ playlist!): Seaside Sweets by Melissa Chambers

Seaside Sweets by Melissa Chambers
Series: Love Along Hwy 30A #1
Links: Goodreads ♥ Amazon
Publication Date: June 19, 2018

After her ex runs up her credit card, clears her bank account, and gets her fired, Seanna Perry makes her escape to the quaint beach town of Seaside, Florida. The houses are pastel, the ocean air heaven, and the men hot as the Gulf Coast sun…one in particular. But while paying the price, literally, for the last man she trusted with her heart, she’s not interested in any sort of beach romance, or so she keeps reminding herself.

Living in the idyllic coastal paradise of the 30A area hasn’t eased Blake Evans’ guilt over what went down three years ago. He can’t stop blaming himself, and certainly none of his wonderful friends can ever find out what happened. Blake’s done a good job of keeping romantic feelings toward any women at bay, and he needs to keep it that way. But when Seanna begins to show him how to live again, he finds himself struggling to keep his guard up.

Seaside Sweets is book one in the Love Along Highway 30A series, which features beautiful beach communities, a circle of unique and amazing friends, and romances that will have you cheering on the couples and fanning yourself from the heat. All books are standalone and can be enjoyed in or out of order.

Excerpt:

An M83 song came over the speakers, electronic dance music’s answer to the slow dance. She tilted her head to the side, lifting an eyebrow. “After that Chicken Dance, you got this one in the bag.”

He huffed a laugh, trying to hold back his grin, but not doing a good job of it. She hadn’t seen him smile this much the whole time she knew him. He pulled her to him, resting his hands on her hips. She eased her hands up to his shoulders, her stomach alive with a nervous flutter. She had always been fairly confident around men. It had been the rare bird who could put her insides into a tizzy. But there was something about Blake’s quiet cool, the fact that he seemed to listen when she talked and actually care about what she said. He wasn’t one of those straight guys where she felt she had a good thirty seconds then needed to wrap it up.

But more than anything, it was the way he looked at her—his blue eyes boring into hers like he knew her…like he was curious about her. And she wanted to know more about him—anything he’d be willing to share. He lifted his chin, seeming ten feet tall so close to her, sending her heartbeat up a step. She looked away, breaking under his gaze.

She leaned into his chest, as he pulled her there. She wasn’t sure who had made the move—maybe both of them at the same time. She breathed in the scent of his skin and lifted her chin to get a good whiff of his neck. The subtlest hint of his body wash lingered, causing her to close her eyes and drink him in.

Her hands wanted to wander down Blake’s back toward his ass—his perfectly proportioned, round ass. Tonight, it was covered by his blazer, but Halloween costume material was thin and cheap. If she could get her hands down there tonight, she could get a good squeeze in. He pulled back from her. “What are you smiling
about?”

I shared my review of Seaside Sweets a couple days ago, but now I’m so excited to share something else with you! It’s no secret that I’m a huge music fan, so I was thrilled when Melissa Chambers offered to create an exclusive playlist inspired by her book! I hope you like it as much as I do.

It’s summertime!

I’m a summer fanatic. It’s probably why most books I write take place at the beach! There’s nothing better than relaxing in a chair with your feet dug in the sand and a
sweet, summer tunes flowing through your earbuds.

So in celebration of summer, and of the release of Seaside Sweets, here’s an exclusive playlist for Sara’s followers!

Go get your summer on! And pick up a copy of Seaside Sweets for your beach bag
while you’re at it! 🙂

Melissa Chambers writes contemporary novels for young, new, and actual adults. A Nashville native, she spends her days working in the music industry and her nights tapping away at her keyboard. While she’s slightly obsessed with alt rock, she leaves the guitar playing to her husband and kid. Teddy Sharpe is kind of famous. He might actually be on his way to being really famous, especially if he’d nailed an audition for the lead role in the movie adaption of the newest bestselling young adult book series. There’s just one problem: He totally blew the audition. And he’s stuck in a tiny North Carolina airport. And his maybe-ex-girlfriend kind of just broke up with him.

The weekend isn’t exactly looking good until Bennett Caldwell, author of the very book series he just auditioned for, takes pity on him and invites him to her family’s lake house. Away from the glitz and glam of Hollywood for a few days, Teddy starts to relax . . . and somehow he and Bennett just click. But dating is hard enough when you aren’t the subject of several dozen fanblogs, and the Internet is full of juicy gossip about Teddy and Bennett . . . gossip that Bennett might not be prepared to handle.

Chosen by readers like you for Macmillan’s young adult imprint Swoon Reads, Alex Evansley’s debut novel, written from both Bennett and Teddy’s perspectives, will have teens laughing, swooning, and falling in love along with these fantastically relatable characters.

Let’s get one thing straight: This book is adorable. I fell in love with the book, the writing style, and Teddy Sharpe himself on page one. Just look at this opening line:

There are few things in life of which Teddy Sharpe is absolutely certain, and he’s absolutely certain this audition is going to be a train wreck.

I mean,

✔️ A teenage bestselling author
✔️ An up and coming actor who isn’t a total jerk
✔️ (He’s actually a really good guy)
✔️ The cutest pairing ever with totally swoony scenes
✔️ Just enough drama to keep things interesting

Was this book written for me?

I love that this book is YA written about the post-high school crowd. I love that Teddy lets teenage girls fawn all over him and take his picture and talk his ear off and he never once complains about it. I love that Teddy stands up for Bennett’s younger cousin over and over again. I love that Bennett calls herself out on judging Olivia, the main actress in the film adaptation of her book, before she even knows her. I love so many things about this book.

I had such a good time reading this book that I actually took my time. I didn’t want it to end, so I drew it out over almost a week. I could’ve binged it in a night — it’s well-written and so adorable — but I wanted the experience to last, so I only read a couple chapters each night.

Highly, highly recommended.

SHE’S GOT CURB APPEAL

Rian Sutter grew up with the finer things in life. Spending summers in The Hamptons was a normal occurrence for her until her parents lost everything years ago. Now Rian and her sister are getting their life, and finances, back on track through real estate. Not only do they buy and sell houses to the rich and famous, but they finally have the capital to flip their very own beachfront property. But when she inadvertently catches the attention of a sexy stranger who snaps up every house from under her, all bets are off…

HE’S A FIXER UPPER

Pierce Whitfield doesn’t normally demo kitchens, install dry wall, or tear apart a beautiful woman’s dreams. He’s just a down-on-his-luck lawyer who needed a break from the city and agreed to help his brother work on a few homes in the Hamptons. When he first meets Rian, the attraction is undeniable. But when they start competing for the same pieces of prime real estate, the early sparks turn into full-blown fireworks. Can these passionate rivals turn up the heat on their budding romance—without burning down the house?

I FLIPPING LOVE YOU, set in the Shacking Up world, follows two people, both working in real estate, who find themselves vying for the same properties in the Hamptons, leading to a sometimes-not-so-friendly competition.

I was so excited to be invited to participate in this blog tour by St. Martin’s Press! I’d never read anything by Helena Hunting — and yes, this is book three in a series — but I think this was a good place to start. Before I get into my review, I just want to put it out there that you don’t need to read the first two books in the series to understand what’s going on here.

I had a lot of fun reading this book. Rian was such a spitfire, never afraid to speak her mind or put Pierce in his place. She could be really sassy when she wanted to be and I loved how focused she was on her goal of getting her life back by flipping houses. I also loved Pierce, who was a total gentleman and absolutely adorable. He deserves everything he wants in life and more! I loved that he was a rich lawyer who could get pretty cocky, but he never turned into a gross alpha male stereotype.

I also loved the setting! I know I’ll never be able to afford to vacation in the Hamptons, let alone live there full-time, but reading about the beaches and the restaurants and everything really made me want to see what all the fuss is about! I liked that even though all of the characters acknowledged that there was a lot of money in the area, nobody really came across as snooty or materialistic.

I suppose now I should mention the couple things that kept me from rating this book higher: the pacing and the big conflict. When it comes to the pacing, all I can really say is that it’s slow. The sexy scenes are pretty sexy, the conflicts can be pretty dramatic, but overall, it always seemed like it took awhile for things to actually happen. I know that a lot of people really go for this style of storytelling, but I’d rather see things happen. As for the big conflict, I saw it coming but thought that Rian was way off-base with how upset she got. I feel like I can’t really say more than that without spoiling it!

Overall, I enjoyed this book and I think I’ll add the second book in the series, which features Pierce’s sister, Amalie, to my TBR. I loved her character and would love to learn more about her and her fiance.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of PUCKED, Helena Hunting lives on the outskirts of Toronto with her incredibly tolerant family and two moderately intolerant cats. She writes contemporary romance ranging from new adult angst to romantic sports comedy.

Blog tour (+ giveaway!): The Brightsiders by Jen Wilde

The Brightsiders by Jen Wilde
Series: standalone
Rating: ★★★★☆
Links: AmazonTBDGoodreads • B&N iBooks • Kobo
Publication Date: May 22, 2018

A teen rockstar has to navigate family, love, coming out, and life in the spotlight after being labeled the latest celebrity trainwreck in Jen Wilde’s quirky and utterly relatable novel.

As a rock star drummer in the hit band The Brightsiders, Emmy King’s life should be perfect. But there’s nothing the paparazzi love more than watching a celebrity crash and burn. When a night of partying lands Emmy in hospital and her girlfriend in jail, she’s branded the latest tabloid train wreck.

Luckily, Emmy has her friends and bandmates, including the super-swoonworthy Alfie, to help her pick up the pieces of her life. She knows hooking up with a band member is exactly the kind of trouble she should be avoiding, and yet Emmy and Alfie Just. Keep. Kissing.

Will the inevitable fallout turn her into a clickbait scandal (again)? Or will she find the strength to stand on her own?

The Brightsiders was actually one of my most anticipated books of 2018. I mean, a book about a teenage rock star and her awesome friends with some scandalous friends-to-lovers romance happening on the side? Sign me up! That said, I was a little nervous to read it because I was expecting such great things, but…

Guess what? I loved it. This book was so much fun!

I knew I was in for a wild ride when Emmy was spiraling out of control at 10% in — but I felt that Wilde handled all of the conflicts really well. I loved all of the main characters and would love to be friends with them if I were ten years younger. (Maybe at this point in my life I can be a surrogate big sister.) All of the characters are complex and fully fleshed out and although there’s a wide variety of representation (bisexual, pansexual, genderqueer, nonbinary, different races and ethnicities, mental health issues) nobody feels like they’ve been added to the story just to check a box.

This is exactly what I’m looking for when I read YA and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anybody looking for a fun contemporary. If you’ve read Wilde’s Queens of Geek, keep an eye out for some cameos by characters you already know and love.

Her debut series reached over three million reads online and became an Amazon bestseller. Her next book, THE BRIGHTSIDERS, comes out May 2018, and GOING OFF-SCRIPT releases Summer 2019.

When she’s not writing, Jen loves binge-watching her favorite shows on Netflix, eating pizza, traveling to far away places and going to conventions in Marty McFly cosplay.
