Tag: Unique Blogger Award (Take 6)

Thank you so much to Heran for nominating me for the Unique Blogger Award! This is always a fun tag to do. 🙂

If you’re interested, you can see the previous takes here: one, two, three, four, and five!

RULES:

  • Display the award!
  • Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
  • Answer the questions they’ve written for you!
  • Nominate 8-13 bloggers and give them three questions in the spirit of sharing love and solidarity within our blogging family!

3 questions from Heran:

What’s the best and what’s the worst book you’ve read so far this year? And why?

Setting aside all literary merit and objectivity, based solely on the way they made me feel, the best would have to be Bloom and the worst would have to be Little Birds.

Bloom made me smile all the way through. I loved that it featured a love interest who really enjoys baking, and I also thought it was super cute.

Little Birds was the least erotic erotica I’ve ever read and it was just one cringy moment after another. I guess if you’re into pedophilia, racism, and bestiality, you might go for it, but if you’re not… I’d just steer as clear as you possibly can.

At what time of the day do you like to read most? Morning, afternoon, evening? Why?

I usually get the most reading done in the evening after everything that needs to be done is done. I have trouble focusing on a book when I know that there are other things — cleaning, shopping, etc. — that need my attention more than the book does.

If your life was a book, what would its title be?

I think I’ve answered this question before, and I said something sassy, like Let’s Pretend That Never Happened.

My questions:

  1. What book are you most looking forward to in 2020?
  2. Do you have any bookish events coming up? If not, what bookish event would you most like to attend?
  3. What is your favorite trope and some examples of books you think do it well?

I’m taking a break from tagging people, but if you like tags and I never tag you, please let me know! If you want to answer these questions, please feel free and make sure to tag me in your post so I can see your answers. ❤

3 questions from Bibi:

Which 3-6 book characters are in your harem? You can’t choose any from the same books/series.
I have never thought about having a harem before! Here are four characters I really love.

What’s your all time favourite book?
I’m pretty sure it’s The Hating Game, but this is actually the hardest question ever.

Do you review audio books? Why? Why not?
I do! I don’t think there’s really any difference between reading a physical book and listening to an audiobook.

My questions:

  1. What’s a book that you wish got more attention?
  2. What are your hobbies aside from reading and blogging?
  3. What’s your most anticipated release for 2019?

I’m taking a break from tagging people, but if you like tags and I never tag you, please let me know! If you want to answer these questions, please feel free and make sure to tag me in your post so I can see your answers. ❤

I was nominated by Thrice Read and Princess of Pages for the Unique Blogger Award! Thank you so much for the nominations! ❤ ❤

If you’re interested, you can see the previous takes here, here, and here!

RULES:

  • Display the award!
  • Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
  • Answer the questions they’ve written for you!
  • Nominate 8-13 bloggers and give them three questions in the spirit of sharing love and solidarity within our blogging family!

3 questions from Thrice Read:

Why do you blog? What is the driving force behind your decision to continue to blog?
I blog because I just love talking about books so much. ❤ And I continue to blog because I love the book blogging community so much. ❤

How do you determine what you’re going to read next?
I usually plan out my blog posts a couple months in advance, so if all goes according to plan, I read whatever needs to be reviewed next. If I’m good on reviews for the next couple weeks, I can read whatever I feel like, which usually ends up being something from the library or something from one of my many piles. Sometimes I can get completely derailed, though, and that’s what happened over the last couple weeks. Now I’m kind of marathoning ARCs so that I can get their reviews out before publication.

What book will you always remember? Why?
I read a lot of books, so they tend to blend together over time. The ones that I remember really well are usually the ones that I’ve had strong opinions about and talked about a lot with other people. So, some examples: Nevernight, The Catcher in the Rye, The Pawn, and All Of This Is True.

3 questions from Princess of Pages:

Have you ever been to a book signing? If so, who?
I have been to a book signing event, but I didn’t get anything signed because I was so unprepared! I just ran out of my house when I saw on Twitter that it was happening! I just stayed for the author talk part since the actual “talk to the authors” part was ticketed and limited to eighteen and younger. (Why am I old.) The authors that were there were Emily X.R. Pan, Anica Mrose Rissi, Nisha Sharma, Claire Legrand, Laurie Harrison, and Cordelia Jensen. Megan McCafferty was also there, but I don’t think she was signing. I did a whole post about it here.

If you were stranded on an island, what crew would you want to be with you? Pick 4 book characters

  • Mia Corvere from Nevernight, because she would protect me from anything scary on the island.
  • Connor Cobalt from Kiss the Sky (and many other books), because he could probably just make a phone call and get us off the island.
  • Sam from Emergency Contact, because I feel like he would be able to distract me from the disaster around me until help arrived.
  • Lennon Mackenzie from Starry Eyes, because he would probably actually know how to survive on the island.

What are your top reads you think everyone should read?
I don’t know that there are many books that everyone should read, since everyone has different reading tastes. That said, here are some books I’d recommend:

  • If you’re interested in social justice and race relations in America: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
  • If you like banter and enemies-to-lovers romances: The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
  • If you want to read about a badass assassin and her not-cat: Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

My questions:

  1. What’s a book that you wish got more attention?
  2. What are your hobbies aside from reading and blogging?
  3. What’s your most anticipated release for the rest of the year?

It’s time for nominations!

I was nominated by Ginny for the Unique Blogger Award! Thank you so much, Ginny, and please go check out her blog because honestly, her gifs are the best and she reviews so many great books. ❤

If you’re interested, you can see the two previous takes here and here!

RULES:

  • Display the award!
  • Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
  • Answer the questions they’ve written for you!
  • Nominate 8-13 bloggers and give them three questions in the spirit of sharing love and solidarity within our blogging family!

3 questions from Ginny:

It’s the zombie apocalypse and you are alone! If you could have ONE fictional character with you to help you survive, who would it be? Why?
My answer would have to be Mia Corvere from Jay Kristoff’s Nevernight Chronicle. If there’s any character who could keep me safe during the zombie apocalypse, it’s Mia. She probably wouldn’t even bat an eye as she mercilessly slaughtered every last one of them.

What book would you most like to have made into a movie/TV series? Why?
I think that Krista & Becca Ritchie’s Calloway Sisters series would make a really great tv show! A lot happens, it’s already sort of based around the characters filming a tv show, and I would just love to see all of the characters brought to life.

If you could change one thing about your favorite book, what would it be?
This means that I have to have a favorite book, which is so hard! I’ve loved sooo many books over the years that I don’t even know which one I’d choose! I think my favorite book of 2018 (so far) is Starry Eyes, so what would I change about that? Nothing, since it’s perfect?? But really… I might have Zorie not keep her dad’s secret for so long. That’s all I’ve got. I loved that book.

My questions:

  1. What’s the last book you recommended to someone?
  2. What was your favorite book when you were a kid?
  3. What’s a book you have an unpopular opinion about?

I’ve tagged a million and one people recently, so there’s no way I’m going to be able to come up with 8-13 names! I’ll put my three nominees below, but absolutely no pressure! Feel free to ignore me!

I was nominated for the Unique Blogger Award by Alyssa Grace at Serendipitous Reads! Thank you so much for the nomination and please go check out her blog! ❤ If you’d like, you can check out take 1 of the award here.

The Rules

  1. Share the link of the blogger who nominated you
  2. Answer their questions
  3. Share some love with the blogging community by nominating 8-12 people
  4. Ask three questions for your nominees

Three questions from Alyssa Grace:

1. Hardcovers or paperbacks?
Well, isn’t this just the eternal question. I like how hardcovers look and my subscription boxes all come with hardcovers, but I sure prefer how much paperbacks cost.

2. Which fictional character do you love that you think would be horrible in real life?
I’m going to give a couple answers for this one, but first I’m going to steal Alyssa Grace’s answer! VICTOR VALE. I love him so much but he would be so awful in real life. I’d still go out for a drink with him, though. 🙂 Anyway, other fictional characters would be…

  • Jack from Arrogant Devil by R.S. Grey: he’s an arrogant jerk who refuses to listen and the way that R.S. Grey wrote it is really charming (because most things she writes are really charming) but in real life, I would be 1000% done with Jack after about three minutes.
  • Simon from Wallbanger by Alice Clayton: I love Simon, okay? But I would HATE to have him as a neighbor because I have a hard enough time sleeping as it is and I’m not going to get any sleep if he’s going at it against my wall.
  • G from My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows: What’s not to love about G?? Except for the fact that he literally turns into a horse every night. He’s such a great guy, but sorry, I’m not putting up with that.

3. In your opinion, what’s a book that has a cover much better than its content, or vice versa?

I think the covers for Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe and The Wedding Date are really cute, but I did not like either book.

Unpopular opinion time! I love Krista & Becca Ritchie’s books, but I HATE THE COVERS FOR THE ADDICTED SERIES. Oh my god, I hate them so much. (The only books of theirs that I actually love the covers for are their Aerial Ethereal books.)

Three questions from me:

  1. What’s your favorite quote from a book you’ve read this year?
  2. What book would you love to see made into a movie or TV series?
  3. If you could frame one book cover and hang it up in your house, which cover would it be?

I nominate:

Lori @ Betwined Reads | Mariam @ Book Mania | Bibi @ Bibi’s Book Blog
Lori @ Lori’s Bookshelf Reads | Charleigh @ Charleigh Writes

(As always, no pressure! Let me know if you like tags and also if you hate them.
If I didn’t tag you and you think this looks fun, consider yourself tagged and link back to this post so I can see your answers! ❤)
