Tag: 90s Movie Tag

Thank you to Nikki for tagging me in the 90s Movie Tag! I was born in 1990, so I am as much a child of the 90s as you can probably be. (And, like Nikki, I am a little biased but I think the 90s were the best decade ever.) I previously did a 90s Kid tag — which was a ton of fun! — so I’m absolutely ready for more 90s-related prompts.

She’s All That | name a book that is an odd pairing but they still fit perfectly

It took me a minute to think of this answer, but I think I’m going to go with Meredith and Jack from Arrogant Devil by R.S. Grey! These two are total opposites and they clash from their first encounter, but they end up making such a great couple!

10 Things I Hate About You | a book/series that you have a love/hate relationship with

This is a hard one, because usually if I have any amount of hatred toward a series, I don’t read the next book. I guess I’ll go with Steig Larsson’s Millennium series because I adored the first three books and I hate where David Lagercrantz went with it. I kind of want to read The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye but I also kind of don’t.

Clueless | a character that is totally clueless but you love them anyway

I thought long and hard about this one, because I usually really dislike characters that are clueless. It’s actually one of my biggest pet peeves when I’m reading, unless it’s done 100% correctly. And guess who did it 100% correctly? Sally Thorne in The Hating Game. Lucy is completely oblivious to the fact that Joshua is in love with her and it just works so well and I love her so much.

Titanic | name a book that made you cry

Nikki chose Me Before You, which is usually my go-to answer for this kind of prompt. I want to choose something different for my answer, so I’ll go with All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. That book made me full-on sob and not in a good way. I still maintain that it’s the most irresponsible and emotionally manipulative book I’ve ever read.

American Pie | a book that makes you laugh

I think I laughed from the first page until the last when I read The Secrets of the Starbucks Lovers by Larissa Zageris & Kitty Curran. I hope you’re not sick of me hyping up this weird fanfiction/mystery novel because here I go again… this book was so funny and it was so perfect and I would recommend it for any fans of Taylor Swift, Lorde, or Nancy Drew.

Can’t Hardly Wait | a book with a crazy party

A whole chunk of the plot of The Brightsiders revolves around Emmy being a party girl that needs to calm down a bit, so I think this is the perfect choice for this prompt! I also really, really loved this book. 🙂

Cruel Intentions | name a character that you can never fully trust

Okay, so first of all, Cruel Intentions is one of my favorite 90s movies. But for a book with a character you can never fully trust… I think I have to go with Made You Up. I adored this book and you never really know whether the things that happen in the book are actually happening or whether they’re all in Alex’s head.

Drive Me Crazy | name your favorite “boy next door” or “girl next door”  couple

You’re really making me choose? This is one of my favorite tropes! (Also, Drive Me Crazy came out when I was like nine years old and I had the biggest crush on Adrian Grenier. I don’t think I saw the movie until I was in middle school, but just from the trailers alone, I was obsessed with him.) But anyway, the first couple that came to mind was Samantha and Jase from My Life Next Door.

Scream | a book with a memorable villain

In any tag that asks about a villain, my answer always has to be Victor Vale in Vicious. I love him so much and I can hardly wait for Vengeful.

The Craft | name a book with witches

I wanted to go with something other than the standard Harry Potter or even Circe, which I’m reading at the time of writing this post. So I think I’ll go with Bring Me Their Hearts!

I’m going to cheat a bit and say that any and all 90s kids are tagged! And even if you aren’t a 90s kid, feel free to do it! I’d love to see your answers, so please link back to me if you decide to do it. And, as always, let me know in the comments if you like tags so that I can tag you in a bunch of stuff in the future. ❤

This tag is amazing!! I might have to do this one. So… In regards to the Millennium series… The first three books are some of my favorite books ever. I just pretend that it ends there. I did read the next book they made and I really disliked it, a lot. I hated it. BUT I am tempted to watch the movie… I just am so mad they couldn’t leave it alone! If you ever read the next book, I’ll be interested in seeing what you think! End Rant. Haha.

LOVE this tag! 90s kid, right here! Embarrassingly I didn’t watch most of these movies until I was an adult, but Clueless was pretty much my favorite. I had the book adaptation, SO LAME! I thought The Hating Game was an excellent choice. It was so frustrating how clueless Lucy was, but it was a big part of what made me enjoy the book so much.
